We were proud to welcome a group of guests from the US and Japan to our newly constructed tea house in Toritsudai yesterday. Crawling into the tea room through a tiny entrance space as well as sitting upright straight in Japanese way must have been a bit of a challenge for our foreign guests. However, we were very impressed by how they challenged it and succeeded with big smiles! Luckily, the sun was coming out by the time we saw the guests off in the afternoon.   If you are interested in this post, please check below! Green Tea and […]

We welcomed a group of Bolivians and their Japanese friends as our guests today. It was a wonderful gathering thanks to the sophisticated and cheerful ambiance they brought into the tea room. Our guests enjoyed today’s formal meal. They showed a keen interest in the ingredients and preparations so our chef explained the menu in detail. You could really see the true spirit of the tea ceremony in this interaction. That is, “Ichi-za Konryu”, where the host and guests contribute in creating perfect harmony.   If you are interested in this post, please check below! Green Tea and Wagashi Delights […]

We welcomed a wonderful couple from Indonesia this time. They love Japan and in fact this is their 5th visit here. They’ve left us a great feedback that this trip was one of their best. They thoroughly enjoyed the authentic style of the workshop which consists of Matcha, Cha-kaiseki and Sake. They even asked for a third round of matcha tea! The couple liked the sake we served that they purchased the same brand to take back home. It was a complete pleasure for the staff as well. Looking forward to seeing you next year!   If you are interested […]

A global cosmetic company has adopted our cultural workshop plan as one of their bicultural exchange programs for their staff. Our plan provided them a visit to a private tea room in Futako-tamagawa where they experienced a tea ceremony followed by a gourmet Japanese bento box. The main theme of the event was “to explore the marketing opportunities through the unique experiences in Japan”. Two sub-themes were set as, “Why does matcha fascinate people worldwide?” and “What is the essence of matcha?”. Each guest tried to search for answers from a lively conversation with our host at an authentic […]

Much to our joy, we received the following message: “We really had a great time with you and enjoyed a lot in experiencing the Japanese Green Tea Culture.“ “We hope that we can meet again in Japan.”   If you […]

Cherry trees are getting ready to bloom very soon. In a couple of weeks, we’ll be enjoying the flowers along the park that leads us to our tea instructor’s house in Toritsudaigaku. We had a mother and two daughters at our casual tea ceremony workshop today. They are from Salt Lake City, Utah (USA). The daughters tried sitting in the Japanese formal way, which even we Japanese have hard time doing. The sweets were in the shape of cherry blossoms and there was a hint of Spring at every corner of the room. Thank you ladies for your interest and […]

It is still cold but there is a hint of spring in the air. We had two couples at our tea ceremony workshop yesterday at Toritsu-daigaku. One couple is from India and another from Italy. The tea bowls, utensils and the setup of the tea room had the theme of spring. Some of the tea bowls had motifs of the girls festival “hinamatsuri”. They did amazing job in preparing matcha tea themselves although it was their first time doing so. It was fun visiting Japanese sweets shop after the tea ceremony as it was decorated beautifully with cherry blossoms […]

We welcomed a siblings group from Australia yesterday at our “Wagashi making with Uji matcha tea” workshop. They made jokes on each other but they get along so well. Such a wonderful team! We ended up with lots of laughs and sticky doughs on their hands! They seem to have enjoyed making wagashi especially the peony bud on which they sprinkled dry mochi powder mimicking snow. Since their pieces turned out successful, we hope they will enjoy eating them as well!   If you are interested in this post, please check below! Wagashi Making Class with Uji Matcha Tea […]
