We were proud to welcome a group of guests from the US and Japan to our newly constructed tea house in Toritsudai yesterday. Crawling into the tea room through a tiny entrance space as well as sitting upright straight in Japanese way must have been a bit of a challenge for our foreign guests. However, we were very impressed by how they challenged it and succeeded with big smiles! Tour Report – Apr. 12th, 2017



Cherry trees are getting ready to bloom very soon. In a couple of weeks, we’ll be enjoying the flowers along the park that leads us to our tea instructor’s house in Toritsudaigaku. We had a mother and two daughters at our casual tea ceremony workshop today. They are from Salt Lake City, Utah (USA). The daughters tried sitting in the Japanese formal way, which even we Japanese have hard time doing. Tour Report – Mar. 13th, 2017


  It is still cold but there is a hint of spring in the air. We had two couples at our tea ceremony workshop yesterday at Toritsu-daigaku. One couple is from India and another from Italy. The tea bowls, utensils and the setup of the tea room had the theme of spring. Some of the tea bowls had motifs of the girls festival “hinamatsuri”. They did amazing job in preparing matcha tea themselves although it was their first time doing so. Tour Report – Mar. 4th, 2017



  We welcomed a siblings group from Australia yesterday at our “Wagashi making with Uji matcha tea” workshop. They made jokes on each other but they get along so well. Such a wonderful team! We ended up with lots of laughs and sticky doughs on their hands! They seem to have enjoyed making wagashi especially the peony bud on which they sprinkled dry mochi powder mimicking snow. We welcomed very wonderful guests who came from Bangkok, Thailand in our tour “Enjoy Wagashi Making with Uji Matcha Tea in Tokyo” today. They are a married couple. They are aiming to provide Wagashi (Japanese sweets) at their Japanese restaurant in Bangkok. So, we provided information to buy ingredients and cooking utensils in addition to a Wagashi lesson.
