A hanging scroll with calligraphy is displayed at a TOKONOMA, an alcove, the most important part of the tea ceremony room. Shodo Experience (Japanese Calligraphy) in Tokyo


We recently hosted some VIP guests from Sweden for a tea ceremony at our new venue. It was a highly successful occasion, and we were delighted that they enjoyed the experience. Among their numerous questions about the ceremony, the most impressive was, “How were the series of movements in the Cha-do ritual determined?” Our host replied, “Cha-do employs movements that were considered the most beautiful.” It is said that Cha-do has been able to realize the ultimate beauty because it was developed with a logical approach, eliminating unnecessary elements and establishing a balance between what’s left and the tea space.
